Concierge Helping Employees & Employers Maintain Work- life Balance

The globalization marked the dawn of the 24 hours connectivity, thereby making the market highly competitive in terms of availability. However, this pursuit is emerging as a challenge to maintain the work life balance for the employees. As a result, employees are utilizing office hours to take care of their personal odd jobs. According to a study, “more than 80 percent of the employees spend their one-third of the work time handling their personal errands.” This distraction results in incomplete personal tasks and reduced productivity as it takes an additional time to re-accomplish the focus on the same task.

The 8 hours rigid increments- 8 hours of work, 8 hours of sleep and 8 hours of family, is nowadays challenging to maintain due to the extended working hours due to globalization, connectivity and highly competitive market.  This speaks to the challenge of maintaining the work life balance. The imbalance of both home and work responsibilities can lead to stress and health issues contributing to the higher rate of absenteeism, reduced productivity and loss to the organization as a whole.


Looking upon this situation, most of the corporate are now adopting a creative way to address the work-life balance through- concierge services. The concierges have emerged as a one-stop solution for the employers to off-load the simple and time-consuming chores of their employees. Therefore, offering them quality time back to spend with their families or friends. Moreover, when personal errands are handled efficiently, the employees can focus on their work at the workplace without any distraction- making them highly productive.  According to research- “employers who offer concierge services to their employees have better employee retention rate.”

An upshot of having satisfied and happy employees is – improved financials. Employee morale can boom or bust a firm’s economy, stability, and profitability. Hence, investing in concierge services can make a real difference in the way they perceive their value to their employer. The feeling of appreciation and support dusts off the thoughts of migration from the current employer- making concierge a profitable deal to both- the employees as well as the corporate.
